Who am I ? hmm.. I’m still thinking about it!
On Duty — I am a board certified psychiatrist in private practice. And, indeed, it is a privilege to be a psychiatrist. It allows me privy to the inner-most thoughts, secrets and feelings of other people – the working class to the elite – the athletic to the dying – all genders, orientations and marital/living situations. This cross culture of lives and the variety of experiences belonging to those lives continuously stretches my own boundaries. Life is truly an adventure and mystery. Off Duty — You might find me driving a tractor, piddlin with computers, writing about what’s on my mind, or enjoying family and friends. Music is an essential aspect of life. I am musician and relax by listening or playing music. People fascinate me. I enjoy photography. It captures people, their spirit, beautiful design, fashion and a moment in time. Though most comfortable in jeans, the “high-life” also has its appeal.
Ancestry — My grandparents immigrated to the USA. To my parents and grandparents much is owed. I am proud of my heritage and grateful of all the support received from many people along the way. It’s time to share and give back a little. I hope to do this, in part, via “Charleston Grit,” “Shrink Think,” “Moultrie News” and my work as a psychiatrist JOHN F. ABESS, M.D., P.A.
Location — Charleston, S.C. is my beloved city where I have worked and lived for many years. My blog, writings, and professional work are the vehicles through which I attempt to share experiences, identify worthy values, and provide emotional support and assistance. Life is meant to be shared. Let’s enjoy sharing aspects of our human nature as we travel together through this adventure of life.
